Surfing Little Hawaii Costa Rica

Are you kidding me?

How have I never surf this wave before now?

Went this morning to a break they call Little Hawaii in Avellanas Costa Rica, which you see pictured above. It’s a predominant right break peeling down the side of a reef.

A buddy that I went with said that he was getting almost triple overhead waves the last couple of days. We were hoping to see something close to the same today.

Unfortunately didn’t pan out exactly like that. Leaving Tamarindo we noticed the waves at the estuary in town do not look so good. My immediate comment was that hopefully this was not an indication of what we were going to see at Little Hawaii Costa Rica.

When we got there we realized it wasn’t going to be the same as last couple of days, but it was still really fun. For the most part, I sat on the outside and waited for the big sets to roll through.

Some of set waves were easily a couple feet overhead and were just peeling down the beach making a perfect right. Caught four really fun long rights that gave me a big open wall to have fun on.

And there was one really steep fun take off that immediately came to an end when the section in front of me closed and I couldn’t get around it.

Coming into the day I was already sunburnt enough. However there is nothing going to stop me from going surfing at a new break. After about an hour, it is becoming obvious that I was burning even more. My only option was to get into the water to keep cool. Needless to say, I’m currently applying aloe to my face and shoulders.

Overall, I’m happy that I woke up at six o’clock in the morning to go out to surf this break. Little Hawaii provided a very fun morning.

Brad Domke Introduces the Future of Surfing

The future is always today. Surfing has been pushing the limits of technology and physical performance. Aerials have touched the skies and the street and mountain extreme sports have been inspiring surfers in their new skills.

Progressive surfing is everything that leads surfing forward. From time to time, we get new footage showing us impossible is nothing. Surfers were designed to defy gravity and the laws of physics.

Skurfing is a concept that has been rising in the wave riding world. There's no official meaning for the newest son of surfing. It's perfectly visible that skurfing is mix of surfing, skateboarding, skimboarding (or skimming), bodyboarding and even snowboarding.

Bradley Domke is known for mastering the art of skimboarding and for trying new tricks and moves with outstanding creativity. He has been named the most progressive skimboarder on the planet.

In "Brad Domke Umleashed" he guides us through what may be considered a few possible roads for the future of surfing. No leashes, no preconceptions. Watch the video, here.

The present of surfing is talking about getting more and more fins in a surfboard. Brad Domke does exactly the opposite. A simple thin wave board and talent is enough and when skimboarders teach surfers, then we know we are on the right track.

A Business Networking Event Helped My Life

Hey guys my name is Brendan Wenzel and I want to tell you a couple stories.

Where I Was in Life

One story is about where I started from. I didn't always live in Costa Rica. In fact I've only lived here for about a year and a half over the last 2 1/2 years.

Before that, actually about four years ago, right when this all got started I was actually living at home. I was broke. I had just got done selling my car and I didn't even make any money from it because I owed more than I sold it for. It was about to be repo'ed after being a few months late on payments.

I was about to go to Korea until UPS lost my paperwork and so I didn't really have the money to get all the paperwork again so that was kinda out the window.

I was lost! And I didn't know what to do with my life. I had just got done with a campaign about six months before that and I kind of didn't want to go back to politics and I couldn't really find a job. And I didn't know where I wanted to go.

My First Business Networking Event

I only really had about $40 in my pocket at the time. And that's where the second story starts. This is basically when it all started for me. This is when it all started to pick up. This is when everything started to make sense.

Everything in my life started to basically turn around and I started to see the kind of like a light.

That was whenever in April 2009 I decided to take a $40 I had my pocket go to Orlando, which is two and half hours away from where I lived. And at the time like I said I had no car so I had to borrow my brother's truck and I had to drive to Orlando with $40 to go to a three-day business networking event in Orlando called Extreme Business Makeovers, which has business networking events every year with a bunch of business owners.

See the rest of the story and the video about how this business networking event changed everything...
